2008 ELBERT COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY PLATFORM
2. Resolved, Republicans consider the rights of the individual to be as important as the rights of the many. 3. Resolved, that taxes should not be increased at the County, State, or National level.
5. Resolved that the Elbert County Republicans shall support the position that the definition of marriage shall be between one man and one woman. Civil unions between same-sex partners may not be viewed as equivalent to marriage. 7. Whereas, in 1994 former President Bill Clinton and the Democrat Congress enacted legislation banning certain semiautomatic firearms, and also ammunition magazines with a capacity greater than ten rounds; and Whereas, this unconstitutional ban has done nothing to reduce crime but has banned an entire class of firearms from civilian use; and 9. Be it resolved, that through Homeland Security immigration laws be enforced and our borders strengthened. 10. Be it resolved that Elbert County Republican Party adopts as a facet of its platform that all Life, regardless of age, infirmity, or ability to exist independently from its mother or a technical device as equal in value and worth to every other human life and should be treated with equal respect and dignity.
11. Be it resolved that Elbert County employees shall not be unionized and if they are unionized, the Board of County Commissions shall not recognize any union as the county employee’s bargaining agent.
